AIS 2026

Advanced School on AI and Intelligent Systems:
Design, Engineering, and Architectures
June 8th - June 11th, Favignana, Sicily, Italy

Aim and Scope

The Advanced School on AI and Intelligent Systems: Design, Engineering and Architectures aims to foster academic excellence, interdisciplinary collaboration, and international networking by bringing together PhD students, early-career researchers, and senior experts from both academia and industry. Participants will have the opportunity to explore recent advances in AI-driven design and engineering of intelligent systems through an enriching program that combines cutting-edge scientific developments with opportunities for cultural exchange. In particular, the School focuses on the foundations, methodologies, and tools for the design, engineering, and architecture of AI and machine learning systems. Topics include communication architectures and technologies, advanced computing paradigms, digital circuit design and

synthesis, embedded systems design, emerging technologies and applications, as well as low-power, energy-efficient, and thermal-aware design. Additional areas of interest encompass security, sensing and signal processing, smart systems and devices, system specification, simulation and verification, testing, and dependability. These methodologies are further extended to interdisciplinary domains such as computational biology and personalized medicine, leveraging the integration of next-generation biological data, including spatially resolved omics and high-throughput sequencing. This includes the development of predictive models for personalized therapies and cheminformatics approaches for drug discovery.
